PTA News

From the PTA
The Clinton Central School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provides a very important and active link between school and home and promotes the welfare of students in our school system. Research shows that parental involvement in a child's education is critical to the child's success in school and later in life. We encourage you to become involved with our Clinton Central School PTA and to take advantage of the opportunities and programs we offer our children.

By attending meetings, volunteering and sharing your ideas with us, the Clinton Central School PTA can keep growing, changing and expanding to meet the needs of the local school community. Click here for the 2017-2018 membership form.

Please contact the PTA at ccsnypta@gmail.com if you're interested in volunteering or have any questions. Thank you in advance for your support!

Clinton High School Receives Highest National Honor
Dear Parents:

I want to make sure that you are aware of the outstanding news that our high school has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence for 2017.

Clinton High School qualified to be nominated for the designation as an "Exemplary High Performing School" which means it is among the highest performing schools as measured by state assessments (top 15% in the state in ELA and Math, and graduation rate.)

After qualifying and being nominated by New York State, we submitted an application that included descriptions of demographic data, curriculum and instruction, school supports, and strategies for academic success. Here is the full application if you are interested: Clinton High School Blue Ribbon School Application

While it the high school that is being honored, the entire district and community can share in this excitement and celebration for we are all connected to each others success and achievement!

Special thanks to all of you and our community partners for all of your support!

Have a great day!

Clinton Kids Care
Dear Families,

After recent events in Texas, Clinton Elementary has decided to team up with Alvin Jr. High School in Alvin, Texas to lend a helping hand. A Clinton graduate, Katie Dowling Lanza, who is now a school administrator in Texas, connected us with Alvin Jr. High. Being a school of about 850 students, they are in need of items to help their school get back to normal after experiencing devastating loss.

After speaking with a guidance counselor at the school, we learned that they are in need of the following new items:
  • Gray t-shirts (Small- Large adult)
  • Black gym shorts (Small- Large adult)
  • Sneakers (6-11)
  • Jeans (boys & girls)
  • Shirts (boys & girls)
Any donated items can be sent in to your child's classroom. We would like to have all donations in by Thursday, October 12th.

We thank you in advance for any donations!

Clinton Historical Society Program: Woman Suffrage in NY State - Sunday, October 8
The program "Women Will Vote, Woman Suffrage in New York State" will be presented by Susan Goodier at the Clinton Historical Society, 1 Fountain St., Clinton, NY, on Sunday October 8, at 2 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.

"Women Will Vote, Woman Suffrage in New York State" is also the title of Goodier's new book co-authored with Karen Pastorello. The book celebrates the 2017 centenary of women's right to full suffrage in New York State. Goodier and Pastorello convincingly argue that the agitation and organization that led to New York women's victory in 1917 changed the course of American history.

Susan Goodier is a scholar who focuses on U.S. women's activism from the period of the Civil War through the First World War. She earned a master's degree in Gender History in 1999, and then earned her doctorate in Public Policy History, with subfields in International Gender and Culture and Black Women's History, in 2007. She then completed a second master's degree in Women's Studies in 2008. Also the author of "No Votes for Women," Goodier is the Women's and Gender Study affiliate and a lecturer in history at SUNY Oneonta.
