Half Day Staff Development Days Cancelled in September and February
Dear Parents/Guardians:

I want to take this time to clarify information regarding half day staff development days that were listed as tentative on the paper calendar.

Due to the realignment of the schedules due to a change in the NYSED regulations, the half days scheduled for September 28th and February 15th have been cancelled.

I would like to remind you that there is a full day conference day on October 19th and the parent conferences in the elementary school will be held as half days on November 14th and 15th.

Our website calendar is accurate at this time and can be found on our website: http://www.ccs.edu

Thank you for your patience related to these changes.

Sincerely,

Dr. Grimm
Superintendent

Athletic Placement Process
Dear Parent/Guardian:

The Athletic Placement Process (APP) is a New York State Education Department (NYSED) program that permits physically and emotionally appropriate students in 7th or 8th grade to try out for a high school athletic team at the Junior Varsity or Varsity level.

If this is something you desire for the next sport season, you must adhere to the process outlined in the Parent Packet found on the Clinton Athletics website.

Please note that the number of students who are allowed to compete outside of their grade levels should be rare and is intended only for the exceptional athlete who has the physical and social-emotional maturity, sport specific skills, and physical fitness necessary to be placed with other athletes outside of their grade level. In addition, the athlete should perform well academically while competing at the advanced level as evidenced by successful academic performance past and present.

In addition, you should discuss this with your previous coach or the current high school coach before making a decision to move forward with the application process. While their formal recommendation comes later in the process, you will want to know before getting started that the coach is in favor of this for your child.

Please note the seasonal deadlines associated with the Athletic Placement Process on our APP Webpage and below should you want to apply:

2018 Fall Season application deadline is June 1st, 2018

Winter Season application deadline is October 1st

Spring Season application deadline is Monday, February 12, 2018
(revised from Feb 1 due to late reminder email)

Please send a signed copy of the parent permission form (page 3 of the Parent Packet) to me to the Athletic Office, or scan and email it to me at dfiore@ccs.edu and my secretary Sharon White at swhite@ccs.edu

Regards,

Doug Fiore
Athletic Director

Molsky's Mountain Drifters - Friday, September 21, 7:30pm
Hamilton College Performing Arts presents an evening of traditional music with Molsky’s Mountain Drifters on Friday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 pm in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.

Grammy-nominated fiddler Bruce Molsky returns to Hamilton with a brand-new trio featuring Allison de Groot, banjo, and Stash Wyslouch, guitar, for an evening of traditional music described by the musicians as “tradition steeped in possibility.”

Mother Jones calls Molsky, “one of America’s premier fiddling talents,” while Allison de Groot combines wide-ranging virtuosity and passion for old-time music, and Boston-based Stash Wyslouch is one of bluegrass’s great young genre-bending pioneers.

Tickets for this event are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, and $5 for students. All seating is general admission. Tickets are available by calling the box office at (315) 859-4331 or visiting www.hamilton.edu/performingarts.
