Harvest of the Month Sample Schedule

The CCS PTA Farm to School Committee, working with OHM BOCES Food Service and the Mohawk Valley Farm to School Initiative, has launched a new Harvest of the Month sampling program. Harvest of the Month is a Farm to School initiative that promotes a seasonal, locally grown item each month. A day or two before the Harvest of the Month is listed on the menu each month, the elementary school kitchen staff will prepare a batch of the menu item for volunteers to serve samples to students in the cafeteria. The idea is to encourage the students to try something new and maybe even choose it for lunch later in the week. Below is our sample schedule:

Menu Item Sample Date Date Listed on Menu
Asian Cabbage Slaw December 18 December 20
Butternut Squash Soup January 29 January 31
Mini Potatoes February 26 February 28
Honey Carrot Bar March 26 March 28
Black Bean and Corn Salsa April 23 April 25
Cheesy Kale Bake May 21 May 23
Cucumber Yogurt Dip June 4 June 6

If you would like to join the Farm to School committee, please email us at farmtoschool@ccspta.info You can also help by encouraging your child to try the samples offered! Thank you for your support!

LEAP Recycling For Charity
The high school's LEAP Club (Leaders in Environmental Awareness and Protection) is proud to announce a new recycling initiative for personal hygiene/beauty products and packaging. For each item that that we recycle, we will earn money towards a charity that digs wells for communities in developing nations. If everyone in our district contributes 20 items, the profits will provide 200 people with a year's worth of clean drinking water. Place your used products and empty containers in the collection boxes in the high school office, middle school office, and elementary school hallway (beside the boxtop collection box) to alleviate thirst and keep these items out of our landfill!

Accepted Used Items
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste tubes and caps
  • Floss containers
  • Deodorant containers and caps
  • Hair product tubes and caps
  • Soap/lotion/shampoo dispensers
  • Hair spray triggers
  • Chapstick/lipstick tubes and caps
  • Bar-soap wrappers
  • Make-up tubes (mascara, concealer, etc.)
  • Make-up cases (eyeshadow, bronzer, powder, etc.)
  • Foundation packaging

Elementary School Food Drive
Dear Clinton Elementary School Families,

December is a great time of year to practice our school-wide themes of kindness, humility, and self-control. We are practicing in many ways here at school, and there are ways for you and your children to help from home.

Elementary Staff is helping the Kiwanis Club collect gift items for children. They have placed a "giving tree" in the office for staff to pull gift tags and purchase items for each family member. We will also be having a luncheon and raffle on Friday, December 14th, to help raise money to purchase food items for the local chapter of The Salvation Army Food Drive. This will benefit local families.

We need your help as we begin our building food drive starting December 10th - 14th. Each grade level will be given different ideas for items to bring in and put on our "Giving Table" in the front hallway.

Here are ideas for each grade level:

First Grade: Crackers, boxed mac and cheese, rice

Second Grade: Tuna, soups, granola bars

Third Grade: Canned fruit, applesauce, vegetables

Fourth Grade: Pasta, sauce in a plastic jar, soups

Fifth Grade: Breakfast products - cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup

We really appreciate all the support our families give each year!

Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Clinton Elementary School Faculty and Staff (Please contact Mrs. Moshier if you have any questions (315-557-2293))

Holiday Gift Giving
Every year during the holiday season the CCS faculty generously donates money as well as gift cards to a holiday gift giving bank. The donations are distributed to families in need the week before break.

We are graciously accepting monetary donations as well as gift cards through Friday, December 14. If you would like to contribute please drop off donations to the Elementary, Middle, or High School office.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the appropriate Counseling/Social work office for more information.

8th Grader Baby Pictures Needed

Attention ALL 8th graders…

The Yearbook Staff needs…

Your Baby Picture

Please bring Mrs. Boucher a picture of you from when you were little (preferably age 5 and under). Make sure your name is on the back of the photo so it can be identified and returned back to you, or put it in an envelope with your name on it.

The more fun the photo, the more adorable!

Try to make sure that you choose a photo where you are centered, and your head is not cut off.

The best size of photo is a wallet size, 2 x 3.5 which works great, but we can work with a 3 x 5 or 4 x 6 standard album photo.

Over December Break, break out the family photo album or photo box and have fun remembering all of the good times when you were an adorable little peanut!

All baby pictures are due to Mrs. Boucher by Friday, January 11th.
