We are pleased to offer the Gertrude Hawk Chocolate fundraiser again this year! Sale proceeds will benefit future PTA events and projects, such as the Ice Cream Social, Elementary Author Visit, Senior Scholarships, and much more! We need your participation to reach our goal!

You can order online at gertrudehawkfundraising.com. Our group code is 703301. Once you create an account and log in, you can click on "Sponsor Me Email" to send an email out to select friends, co-workers, and family with a direct link so that your child gets credit for the sale.

How do web orders get delivered?

1. Web orders placed by Monday, March 4 by parents and the community can be delivered with the main school order with free shipping.
2. Out of town friends and family can choose to send their orders directly to their home (standard shipping fees apply). With this option, orders can be placed now through April 14.

Every student that sells at least 1 item will receive a prize! Levels are based on total sales. If you submit a brochure order and also sell online, your child's name must match exactly to earn his/her prize.

The order deadline is Monday, March 4! Estimated order pickup is the week of April 1st!

The CCS PTA Farm to School Committee, working with OHM BOCES Food Service and the Mohawk Valley Farm to School Initiative, has launched a new Harvest of the Month sampling program. Harvest of the Month is a Farm to School initiative that promotes a seasonal, locally grown item each month. A day or two before the Harvest of the Month is listed on the menu each month, the elementary school kitchen staff will prepare a batch of the menu item for volunteers to serve samples to students in the cafeteria. The idea is to encourage the students to try something new and maybe even choose it for lunch later in the week. Below is our sample schedule:

This school year, CCS is participating in the Positivity Project. A different character trait or topic is highlighted and discussed at school each week. Last week's topic was "Supporting Others", which is the third of five pillars of the Other People Matter mindset. According to the Positivity Project's Weekly Roundup:

On an individual level, the research is clear that when we help others we also help ourselves. Dr. Roy Baumeister found that individuals who are “givers” and help other people lead more meaningful lives – with meaning defined as “a cognitive and emotional assessment of whether one’s life has purpose and value.” This goes beyond being happy in the moment and connects your past, present, and future.

On a group level, it’s critically important that we help each other out. Everyone faces tough days needs support. And, this support leads to a chain of pro-social behavior that makes us feel good about ourselves and our group. As Sebastian Junger explains in Tribe, natural catastrophes can elicit paradoxical positive emotions, because “self-interest gets subsumed into group-interest…(creating) a social bond that many people sorely miss.”

Clinton Central School District Kindergarten Registration is scheduled for the week of March 4th in the Elementary School Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (the child does not need to be present). You may also go to the CCS website, ccs.edu, for a copy of the registration packet, which will be available in early March. Children need to be five years old on or before December 1, 2019 to be eligible to start Kindergarten in the fall. Immunizations need to be updated before entry in the fall and an original birth certificate must be presented at the time of registration. Incoming Kindergarten Parent Information Night will be April 25th 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Elementary School Cafeteria.

Clinton will be hosting our Tri-Band Festival this year on Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20. The school calendar is marked incorrectly. Please make a note of this so that your child will be able to attend the night of their concert. The middle school Concert Band will perform at 7pm on Tuesday, March 19. The high school Symphonic Band will perform at 7pm on Wednesday, March 20.

Students will be excused from some classes during the day of their festival to rehearse with guest conductors in preparation for that evening's performance.

The high school's LEAP Club (Leaders in Environmental Awareness and Protection) is proud to announce a new recycling initiative for personal hygiene/beauty products and packaging. For each item that that we recycle, we will earn money towards a charity that digs wells for communities in developing nations. If everyone in our district contributes 20 items, the profits will provide 200 people with a year's worth of clean drinking water. Place your used products and empty containers in the collection boxes in the high school office, middle school office, and elementary school hallway (beside the boxtop collection box) to alleviate thirst and keep these items out of our landfill!

The offerings will be divided to accommodate elementary students, junior high students and high school students with appropriately themed art and movement activities for each group. There will be two sessions each day for each group so that they have different activities and a different teacher from the morning session to the afternoon session. Students please bring sack lunches. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Hamilton College Performing Arts presents the Albany Symphony Orchestra, with Orion Weiss, piano, on Friday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

The program includes the world premiere of Gaze by Annika Socolofsky, Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (Orion Weiss, piano), and Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 2.

One of the most sought-after soloists in his generation of young American musicians, the pianist Orion Weiss has performed with the major American orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic. In 2004, he graduated from the Juilliard School, where he studied with Emanuel Ax.

Founded in 1930 in New York’s Capital Region, the Albany Symphony serves a diverse regional audience covering more than seven counties and parts of three states. Led by David Alan Miller, who celebrates his 26th season as music director, the Symphony presents a core classical series throughout the region, each featuring a world-premiere or recent composition. Grammy Award-winning conductor David Alan Miller has established a reputation as one of the leading American conductors of his generation. Music Director of the Albany Symphony since 1992, Miller has proven himself a creative and compelling orchestra builder. Through exploration of unusual repertoire, educational programming, community outreach and recording initiatives, he has reaffirmed the Albany Symphony’s reputation as the nation’s leading champion of American symphonic music and one of its most innovative orchestras.

Drop in for free children’s activities and treats! This project mixes pen and ink techniques with doodling fun! Kids will create amazing compositions using a series of lines, dots, zig-zags and squiggles! This project is inspired by the art featured in the Wellin Museum’s permanent collection, on view in Archive Hall.

The Clinton Symphony Orchestra of the Mohawk Valley is a great asset to the quality of life here in our upstate region. we are the only professional orchestra in the area. We are so grateful that our concerts have been met with tremendous enthusiasm!

The postponed January 20, Clinton Symphony Opera Favorites Concert, has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 17, 2019, 2:30 PM.

Box office opens at 1:00, free pre-concert lecture at 1:30, concert at 2:30.

We are so excited that due to a grant we received from the Winter Foundation, students may attend free!

Previously purchased tickets may be picked up at the will-call window.

Have a pizza and help a student go to college! Every Wednesday during the winter months, when you purchase a pizza from Alteri’s Restaurant in Clinton (dine in or take out), $2 of the price will go to Clinton Dollars for Scholars to support a scholarship to honor Mr. and Mrs. Alteri.
