Teacher Appreciation Luncheon - Volunteers Needed!

Dear Parents,

Each year in celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Week, the Clinton Central School PTA hosts a luncheon to honor and celebrate our teachers, faculty, and staff. Everyone who is employed by the district, from administrators to crossing guards, is invited to attend and the PTA provides a beautifully catered multi-course lunch buffet. It is one of our favorite events of the year and we always look forward to honoring our wonderful school employees on this day.

We are looking for volunteers to make desserts or fruit salads for the event or to help serve lunch. Food would need to be delivered to the Atrium on Thursday, May 9 between 8 am and 10 am since the first group comes for lunch around 10:45. We need volunteers to help serve and prep between 9 am and 3 pm. We are using Perfect Potluck to coordinate volunteers. If you are able to provide dessert or volunteer your time (even a half hour helps) please sign up here.

If you would like more information about this event or if you would like to help out in other ways, please email us at ccsnypta@gmail.com and once again, THANK YOU for your continued support.

Sincerely,

The CCS PTA

The CCS PTA Farm to School Committee, working with OHM BOCES Food Service and the Mohawk Valley Farm to School Initiative, has launched a new Harvest of the Month sampling program. Harvest of the Month is a Farm to School initiative that promotes a seasonal, locally grown item each month. A day or two before the Harvest of the Month is listed on the menu each month, the elementary school kitchen staff will prepare a batch of the menu item for volunteers to serve samples to students in the cafeteria. The idea is to encourage the students to try something new and maybe even choose it for lunch later in the week. Below is our sample schedule:

Cheesy Kale Bake May 21 May 23

Positivity Project - Appreciation of Beauty & Excellence
This school year, CCS is participating in the Positivity Project. A different character trait or topic is highlighted and discussed at school each week. This week's character strength is Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence. According to the Positivity Project's Weekly Roundup:

This strength addresses the ability to identify and enjoy that which is admirable in the world. There are three types of goodness in which positive psychology focuses:

  • physical beauty - a sunset, song, or building
  • exceptional skill or talent
  • moral goodness - such as a a character strength

Appreciation of beauty can generate awe; appreciation of a skill can generate admiration; and appreciation of moral goodness can generate moral elevation. All of these feelings (awe, admiration, and moral elevation) help us forget ourselves and find increased joy and meaning in the world.

Visit The Positivity Project's website to learn more and to sign up for the weekly newsletter.

  • Deflated soccer balls
  • Shin guards
  • Jerseys
  • Goalie gloves
  • Shorts
  • Soccer Socks

Thank you!
