Harvest of the Month Sample Schedule

The CCS PTA Farm to School Committee, working with OHM BOCES Food Service and the Mohawk Valley Farm to School Initiative, has launched a new Harvest of the Month sampling program. Harvest of the Month is a Farm to School initiative that promotes a seasonal, locally grown item each month. A day or two before the Harvest of the Month is listed on the menu each month, the elementary school kitchen staff will prepare a batch of the menu item for volunteers to serve samples to students in the cafeteria. The idea is to encourage the students to try something new and maybe even choose it for lunch later in the week. Below is our sample schedule:

Menu Item Sample Date Date Listed on Menu
Kale Dusted Popcorn May 16
Cheesy Kale Bake May 21 May 22
Cucumber Yogurt Dip June 11 June 13

If you would like to join the Farm to School committee, please email us at farmtoschool@ccspta.info You can also help by encouraging your child to try the samples offered! Thank you for your support!

Positivity Project - Leadership
This school year, CCS is participating in the Positivity Project. A different character trait or topic is highlighted and discussed at school each week. This week's topic is the 24 and final character strength of the year: Leadership. According to the Positivity Project's Weekly Roundup:

Leadership can be both formal and informal. It is concerned with getting others to do what needs to be done while maintaining group morale to ensure readiness to act in the future. This character strength's focus is on the personal qualities of leaders, rather than the practice of leadership. These qualities include the ability to understand others and inspire them toward a common goal, the capacity to mitigate conflict and mold consensus, and the desire to lead other people.

Positive psychology focuses on transformational leaders. This type of leadership is a process where "leaders and their followers raise one another to higher levels of morality and motivation." These leaders are able to create a vision, communicate the vision, develop a coherent strategy to achieve that vision, and lead the charge towards its attainment. Through their words and actions, these leaders develop an inspirational relationship with their followers. That is, they fill others with the spirit to attain the visio

Downtown Revitalization Initiative

Dear Parents:

I am part of a local planning committee that is working together with the Village of Clinton and the Town of Kirkland to apply for a Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) grant that could provide resources to help us realize some dreams regarding our future that make our Town and Village more attractive for young people and families to live here. For example, some ideas are: a youth center, an outdoor skating rink, fix the Clinton Community Pool, better sidewalks, etc. This is your chance to provide input! Dream Big!

Also, please speak with your children and encourage them to either fill out the form as well, or together with you.

Please complete this form/survey by May 10 at the latest. Thank you!
