CCS PTA Presents Award to Julia Scranton

This week the PTA presented a token of our appreciation to Julia Scranton, who is one of the many unsung heroes at CCS. Throughout the year she is always willing to help the PTA with communication with Dr. Grimm and parents in the district, scheduling, building request forms, etc in addition to the daily work she does for the district. Thank you so much for all that you do, Julia!!

Ice Cream Social and Bike Rodeo

The weather may not have cooperated but everyone still had a blast at this year's Bike Rodeo and Ice Cream Social!

Utica Bike Rescue turned the gym into a bike obstacle course, where students had a blast riding their scooters and bikes between cones, stopping at stop signs and looking both ways before crossing. When they successfully completed the course, students received a certificate and then an ice cream cone to celebrate the school year. Utica Bike Rescue also did a safety check on each bike and helmet.

Thank you so much to Utica Bike Rescue and all of its volunteers for bringing the Bike Rodeo to Clinton Elementary, to Byrne Dairy for generously donating the ice cream, and to all of our volunteers that made the evening run so smoothly!

Crayon and Marker Recycling

As the end of the school year approaches, teachers and students will likely be looking to dispose of lots of used school supplies.

Rather than throwing them out, the following items can be dropped off in the bins located near the front entrance of the elementary school.

  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Highlighters
  • Dry Erase Markers

The used crayons will be sent off to The Crayon Initiative to be recycled into new crayons that will be donated to children's hospitals!

Markers will be shipped to Crayola for recycling.

Thank you for helping to keep these items out of the landfills!

Clinton Elementary and Middle School- End of Year Half Days

LEAP Recycling For Charity
The high school's LEAP Club (Leaders in Environmental Awareness and Protection) is proud to announce a new recycling initiative for personal hygiene/beauty products and packaging. For each item that that we recycle, we will earn money towards a charity that digs wells for communities in developing nations. If everyone in our district contributes 20 items, the profits will provide 200 people with a year's worth of clean drinking water. Place your used products and empty containers in the collection boxes in the high school office, middle school office, and elementary school hallway (beside the boxtop collection box) to alleviate thirst and keep these items out of our landfill!

Accepted Used Items
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste tubes and caps
  • Floss containers
  • Deodorant containers and caps
  • Hair product tubes and caps
  • Soap/lotion/shampoo dispensers
  • Hair spray triggers
  • Chapstick/lipstick tubes and caps
  • Bar-soap wrappers
  • Make-up tubes (mascara, concealer, etc.)
  • Make-up cases (eyeshadow, bronzer, powder, etc.)
  • Foundation packaging
  • Make-up pencils
Thank you for your participation!
