Hamilton College Performing Arts presents the off-Broadway puppet play Chimpanzee on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 pm in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts at Hamilton College.
Directed, created, and designed by Nick Lehane, Chimpanzee is a one-animal show starring a nameless chimpanzee in solitary confinement in a biomedical facility. The chimpanzee enacts recurrent memories of being raised by humans. The chimp is a puppet, manipulated by three puppeteers: Rowan Magee, Andy Manjuck, and Emma Wiseman. Chimpanzee shows the power of puppetry to elicit emotion without dialogue.
Lehane studied at the Moscow Art Theatre School and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. He researched true events while writing this play. Chimpanzee was the recipient of the 2019 Jim Henson Foundation Residency at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $5 for students. All seats on stage, with a limit of 90 seats per evening. Reservations are strongly suggested. This performance is suitable for ages twelve and over. Please call in advance to arrange handicapped seating. For tickets or more information call the box office at (315) 859-4331 or visit www.hamilton.edu/performingarts.
The Hamilton College Department of Music presents pianist Vassily Primakov on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center on the Hamilton College campus.
The recital includes selections from Shumann's Fantasiestücke, Op.12 and Schumann's rarely performed Grand Sonata No. 3. He is joined by Oxana Mikhailoff in the second half of the program for a four hands arrangement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.

Rose Career Grant, he won both the Silver Medal and the Audience Prize in the 2002 Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition.
